One Data Scientist’s Premature Professional Autobiography (with tips!)

Abstract:  
In the 5 years since earning my Ph.D., I have worked on optimization and prediction problems in the transportation, food & beverage, and e-commerce industries. In this talk, I'll give an overview of my work and share my perspective on life as a data scientist. Along the way, I'll highlight key learnings and tips for graduate students interested in similar industry careers.

Bio: 
Nathaniel Richmond earned his Ph.D. in Applied Mathematical & Computational Sciences from the University of Iowa in 2016. Since then, he has held multiple technical operations research and data science positions at BNSF Railway, Keurig, Dr Pepper, and currently Shopify. His interests include coffee roasting, fantasy books, and traveling while not in a pandemic.
