Abstract:
In 1986, Cheeger and Gromov proved that every smooth manifold that admits an $F$-structure of positive rank can collapse with bounded sectional curvature. The two purposes of this talk are to define all of the terms needed to state this result and to sketch the proof that every compact manifold that admits such a structure has vanishing Euler characteristic.
