Speaker:
Sam Brensinger
Topic:
"The Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle"
Abstract:
In this talk, we discuss one of the most important physics results of the 20th century: the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle. After a brief introduction to quantum mechanics, we develop the uncertainty principle in the context of linear algebra. Then, we conclude with a very intuitive explanation of the uncertainty principle through the use of the Fourier transform. No prior knowledge of physics is expected or necessary!
