Math Biology Seminar

Speaker:
Prof. Nandakumar Narayanan, Neurology, University of Iowa
Topic:
Timing and Dopamine

Abstract:

Timing, or deciding when to act, is critical to mammalian behavior. Despite its importance, it is unclear how neurons encode time. Here, we present neuroscientific evidence from humans and rodents about how the neurotransmitter dopamine affects timing behavior, and the neuronal encoding of time. Our hope is that this might inspire new insights into computational principles of how neuronal networks encode time.
