Topic:
Z2 Gauge Theory on Quantum Computers

Abstract:

Quantum computers are emergent technologies that have opened many doors to explore areas of High Energy physics. One such application is the simulation of Gauge theories. U(1) gauge theory is one of the simplest gauge theories with a single U(1) symmetry group and the electromagnetic four-potential. Noetherâs theorem allows for the construction of Gauge theories. It achieves this by forming a connection between symmetry and conserved quantities. These gauge theories can be discretized for the finite time simulation on quantum computers. Simulations of these theories on quantum computers will be much faster than on classical computers. In this talk, I will discuss error mitigation and how it can improve 1+1d Z2 Gauge theory simulations.
