Operator Theory Seminar - CANCELED

Speaker:
Richard Baker
Topic:
On the Intersectionality of AI With Functional Analysis

Abstract:

I will use George Cybenko's Universal Approximation theorem for Single Hidden Layer Feed Forward Artifical Neural Networks as a good example of how Functional Analysis interscts AI via Artificial Neural Networks. Although Cybenko proved this theorem in 1989, his proof contains nice applications of the Hahn-Banach theorem, the Riesz Representation theorem, and Lusin's theorem.
