Topology Seminar
Speaker:
Michael Willis, University of Virginia
Topic:
Khovanov homology
Abstract: Michael's work represents an extension of the recent papers by Lipshitz-Sarkar which have reimagined the Khovanov theory in a bold new way using techniques from homotopy theory pioneered by Cohen and Segal. Instead of associating a chain complex to each knot, the theory associates a family of spaces to the knots. The homologies of these spaces can be used to recover the Khovanov homology of the knot.
