Abstract:
In this talk we discuss how character varieties and instanton Floer homology can be used to obtain information about handle decomposition of homology cobordisms. Part of the motivation is a conjecture which is mentioned in the first part of the talk. Most of this talk is based on a joint work with Tye Lidman, Shea Vela-Vick, and Mike Wong.
