Organizational meeting for the Two Tuesday seminars, fall semester ’26, - OT & MP as in prior semesters.
One OT is in math, and the other MP in math physics; see details below. You are invited to our joint organizational meeting on Tuesday Aug 25 in VAN 309 at 1:30, so organization of both seminars. Everyone is welcome, both students and faculty. Please share with others too.
Details: Joint organizational meeting on Tuesday August 25 is for both seminars, jointly with attendance from both mathematics and physics. The two seminars, operator theory OT, and math physics MP, are different, but they share organizational meeting. Both seminars cover a range of diverse topics in mathematics, and in neighboring areas, including math physics.
Seminar titles: (i) Operator Theory OT and related areas, 1:30 pm; and (ii) Math. Phys MP, 2:30 pm, weekly on Tuesdays during the semester.
We have course numbers for those who might want to register, but registration is not required.
There are typically overlaps of participants and of topics covered. Topics in both include selected topics from quantum computing. And many other topics as well.
Graduate students are encouraged to attend, and also to volunteer to present. Please come to the organizational meeting on Aug 25 at 1:30pm in room 309 VAN (the physics building, direction from MLH, it’s down Iowa Avenue to VAN.) The room has both blackboard and screen.
Seminar details:
The two seminars are separate. They are both weekly, in-person seminars, and they are open to everyone. Graduate students may choose to register, but it is not required.
We begin the semester with a joint organizational meeting on Tuesday Aug 25, and everyone is cordially invited.
Participants, and especially graduate students, are encouraged to offer to give presentations. With volunteers, we typically manage to assign speakers for most of the slots of the semester. While the seminars are listed as courses, we stress that they are open seminars, and that everyone is welcome.
Following tradition, the seminars are back-to back, and both seminars take place in the Physics building VAN, room 309. Also following tradition, we aim to include some outside speakers. Make suggestions, please.
Summary:
1) Both seminars are in-person. (If you prefer to participate by zoom, see below. We may need to update it.) So we go weekly for the rest of the semester, with the two seminars, OT first, and followed by MP. OT includes operator theory, operator algebras, harmonic analysis, dynamics, and applications. You may pick either one OT, or MP, or both.

3) Everyone is welcome to participate - passwords are not needed for zoom, both seminars will be recorded - let us know if you have any objections concerning recording.
