Professor Ionut Chifan has been awarded a 3 year NSF grant in the amount of $257,995 to support his research project:

"Rigidity Theory of von Neumann Algebras and its Connections to C*-Algebras, Geometric Group Theory, and Continuous Model Theory"

This is Ionut's sixth consecutive NSF grant (fifth awarded while he has been at Iowa).  

The project not only supports him as PI in conducting the research, but also the development of several graduate students during the award period.  More information can be found in the official NSF award abstract. Congratulations to Ionut!
