Bor-Luh Lin Outstanding Thesis in Mathematics Award - José David Beltrán Lizarazo

José was selected for this departmental award by the Graduate Committee for his exceptional work on his thesis, "Some Existence Results for Nonlinear Hyperbolic Systems of Balance Laws Arising in Biology and Traffic Flow." He was nominated and supervised by Dr. Tong Li.

 

Ballard & Seashore Fellowship - Steven Un

Steven was awarded this fellowship by the Graduate College to complete work on his thesis "Advances in Stochastic Analysis with Applications to Theoretical and Computational Finance," supervised by Dr. Palle Jorgensen. 

 

Post-Comprehensive Research Fellowship - Ashwin Ayilliath Kutteri

Ashwin was awarded this fellowship by the Graduate College to begin work on his thesis, which will focus on the study of problems in low dimensional topology using algebraic and geometric tools. He will be completing this work under the supervision of Dr. Mohammad Farajzadeh-Tehrani & Dr. Charles Frohman.

 

Outstanding TA Award - Bradley Duda & Kevin Wang

Bradley & Kevin were selected by the Council on Teaching for this award, which recognizes teaching assistants who have demonstrated outstanding abilities at the University of Iowa. Bradley was nominated for this award by Dr. Olga Sokratova for his exceptional teaching and compassion for student success. Kevin was nominated for this award by Dr. Olga Sokratova for his excellent work ethic and dedication to teaching with clarity, enthusiasm, and adaptability.

Abdul was awarded this fellowship by the Graduate College to dedicate his summer to research that will help him graduate in Spring.

Ashwin was awarded this fellowship to begin work on his thesis and conduct uninterrupted research this summer. 

Paria was awarded this fellowship to focus on research and attend a conference, which will help her progress in her thesis work.

Blake was awarded this fellowship to help him complete his dissertation and refine his line of research with uninterrupted work time during the summer. 

Marc was awarded this fellowship to help him attend and present at a conference in Canada and focus on research, giving talks, and networking during the summer. 

Nandita was awarded this fellowship to help her focus fully on her research and attend conferences and research visits that will advance her dissertation work. 

Evelyn was awarded this fellowship to help her attend a conference and finish developing a model critical for completing her thesis work.

Kevin was awarded this fellowship to focus fully on his research and work towards defending his thesis.
