Mathematics Ph.D. student Ian Ramsey has been selected to receive a highly competitive award through the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Science Graduate Student Research (SCGSR) program.
As part of the award, Ramsey will conduct research at Oak Ridge National Laboratory beginning in early 2027. His project, “Generative AI-Based Data Assimilation for Predicting Non-Gaussian and Nonlinear Dynamical Systems,” will be conducted in collaboration with researchers at ORNL.
The achievement is particularly noteworthy because only three of this year’s more than 75 SCGSR award recipients are from mathematics departments nationwide.
